For Your Interview

Setting up the interview

We prefer to conduct personal interviews. We realize, however these are not always possible for candidates who are out of state or from other countries. We often conduct phone interviews for any applicants who are not local. If you have scheduled a phone interview, please plan on setting aside about one hour for our conversation. If you are unable to be here, we do offer Skype interviewing via the computer as well. Please contact the Human Resources Department to discuss which interview option is best for you.

Before you interview

Here are a few tips to prepare you for your interview:

Be Prepared: Either bring your resume with you when you come in for an interview or email us a copy in advance. We want to know where you have worked, what your job duties consisted of, how long you worked there and we want to know who we can contact at that company. References are a must! Please make sure that the references you provide are easily accessible by phone and that you have current phone numbers for those people.

Dress to Impress: No, we don’t expect you to show up in a suit and tie, but we also don’t want to see you in your ski clothes. Jeans or khakis are perfectly fine, but please make sure they are clean and in good repair. Remember, there is only one chance to make a good first impression.

If you’re not 15 minutes early, you’re late: We do an extensive number of interviews throughout the day during our recruiting months and you being late for an interview will reflect poorly on our first impression of you and it will shorten your time to explain why we should consider you as a candidate. Be on time.

Do Your Research: Know a little bit about Arapahoe Basin before you come in the door. Regardless of whether you’ve been a local for 20 years or if you’ve never been to the state of Colorado, you should spend some time on our website to get a feel for our ski area and for our expectations in our employees. Most importantly: know WHY you want to work at Arapahoe Basin.

Be Excited and Energetic: That is the vibe that A-Basin tends to give off without even trying. We are all excited to come to work every day and ten times more excited when it snows! We want to see that same enthusiasm from all of our job applicants. Smile. Laugh. You’ll fit right in.

Prepare Specific Examples: We’re going to talk a lot about your work history. Rather than giving us vague answers and stories about previous work experiences, prepare specific and relevant success stories about your previous positions.

Ask Questions: We shouldn’t ask ALL of the questions! If you’re not sure about a schedule or what level of skiing or riding is required for a specific position, please ask! That’s why we’re here and we want you to make a sure you have all of the information you need about working at A-Basin.
