Arapahoe Basin Spring Parking

Arapahoe Basin, Colorado – March 5, 2012 – Arapahoe Basin’s spring parking plan is now in place and includes close-in parking for carpoolers on designated weekends.

Spring has come to Arapahoe Basin and parking at the ski area has never been easier or more environmentally friendly.  A-Basin’s parking goals for this spring include increasing occupancy per vehicle driving to the ski area, reducing greenhouse gas emissions for people traveling to the ski area, reducing demand for additional parking spaces and reducing congestion on US Highway 6.

The plan consists of two main components, a guest plan and an employee plan.  Guests have been rewarded throughout the season with discounts at the ticket window when they carpool four or more to a vehicle.  New this spring, for five weekends starting April 14 through May 13, a significant and close-in portion of the Early Riser parking lot will be reserved for guests who carpool with four or more per vehicle.   The ski area would also like to encourage skiers and riders to take the Summit Stage Swan Mountain Flyer bus (www.summitstage.com) if coming from Summit County or the Front Range Ski Bus (www.frontrangeskibus.com) if traveling from Denver.

Employees are strongly encouraged to carpool or take the Summit Stage to the ski area on historically busy spring weekends.  Efforts have been put forth to organize carpool information to the employees so they can coordinate rides on their work days.  Additionally, an A-Basin employee express shuttle will be operating from down-valley to the ski area.

On Saturday, April 14, A-Basin will be hosting its 4th annual Save our Snow Celebration.  This event will take place in the base area with likeminded companies educating the public on their green initiatives. Companies include High Country Conservation Center, Clif Bar, Siemens Wind Energy and the Front Range Ski Bus.  Live music, discounted lift tickets, composting, raffle (including an A-Basin season pass, lift tickets and swag) will be featured the day of the event.  All proceeds from the event will go to the High Country Conservation Center.
