You will be forgiven for thinking the wildest Colorado mountain bike race is a multi-day stage race, a 100+ mile epic, or any event you choose to do on a singlespeed. But it is none of those. It is actually a 3-mile, high-elevation hill climb here at Arapahoe Basin.
The Reverse Enduro on July 30 is a timed ascent from 10,780 to 12,456 feet on a mix of singletrack and extra-steep, not-smooth dirt road. That's it. The descent is untimed and participants can either drop off the backside of the ski area onto the famed Lenawee Trail or descend the frontside and enjoy our new, 2-mile bike only downhill trail (Wheels Up).
Why? Why? We know a lot of you like to come here and ski uphill in the winter so... why not? Enduro racing in Colorado is all the rage. We looked at the popularity of those events and decided that turning them on their heads would be true to A-Basin's style. Up here, the air is thin, the scenery is distractingly beautiful, and the vibes are good.
You're more than welcome to take this bike race seriously--there will be prizes--and chase a new Strava KOM or QOM. You're also more than welcome to dress up in a banana suit and take your bike for a walk. (Walking your mountain bike is always OK.) We're all about choosing your own adventure here at The Basin and having fun is our only suggestion.
Now is the time to sign up for the 2022 edition on July 30! The Reverse Enduro also takes place the same day as our summer Festival of the Brewpubs. Stick around after your ride for food tents, live music, and unlimited local brewery tastings.
