Podcast Ep4: Building the Lenawee Lift

09/16/2022

Summer

Episode 4 of our behind-the-scenes podcast, "Good Morning Arapahoe Basin!" digs into the why and how we are replacing a perfectly good lift.

Lenawee is critical infrastructure because it serves a significant portion of our terrain and travels from mid-mountain to the summit. Lenawee was built in 2001 and was last a slow-speed 3-chair. It was also the one remaining pinch points on the mountain. By swapping in a high-speed 6 (and sending the entire lift to Sunlight Mountain in Colorado to be re-used), we are creating an even better experience with less standing around and more skiing and riding.

This is another example of A-Basin investing in your experience. Listen in to hear all about the lift project from our team, including the the unique quirks of construction at and above 11,500 feet, efforts taken to reduce our impact on the landscape, and favorite terrain to ski off the Lenawee Lift.
