Course Description
Here we go for our grand finale for the season. Steep n’ Long, ready?
We’ll start up High Noon and pass Black Mountain Lodge heading for Grizzly Road into Powder Keg Glade. After a short wander in some really cool trees we’ll come out onto Slalom Slope for a bit, then back to Grizzly Road up to the top of the Pali chair. Using the “back” road over to the West Wall Saddle, we’ll access the Davis trail to descend to the bottom of the new Beavers chairlift. This is a pretty steep descent so don’t forget to buckle your boots up!! Now for a focusing boot pack up Loafer’s lowest and steepest pitch. A pack is not required but would be very helpful to be in 4X4 wheel drive using both your poles. Next we’ll dive into the Glockenspiel Glades to switch back and forth working the pitches to emerge at treeline on Loafer once more, climbing to the ridgeline overlooking the Zuma cornice. With sensational views, we’ll arrive at PHQ for the finish of our Rando Race season. Thanks for sweating ( and freezing) with us this season. Ski ya next year.
*Please note with this longer course we will be doing an 8 a.m. cut off before the descent into Davis. If you get cut off we would love to still see you in PHQ so head up the cornice run for a strong finish.
New for 2019
