Relaxing Mountain Experience
All ages and abilities
Everyone can enjoy our spectacular views. Chill out in our incredible setting with a casual hike or chairlift ride to mid-mountain to wander among the wildflowers and enjoy a cold drink on the scenic deck of the Black Mountain Lodge (pictured). The chairlift is a short walk from your car.
On Fridays and Sundays, take time for yourself with a guided one-hour, outdoor yoga session at 11:00 a.m. followed by lunch on the deck of the 6th Alley Bar & Grill.
Is it Saturday? If so, start with lunch then kick back in our beautiful base area to enjoy free live music from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
High Alpine Adventure
Get your adrenaline going with a trip through our aerial adventure park. Choose one of 7 courses (two for little kids; five for the big kid in all of us) and spend a couple of hours swinging through the trees.
Get your blood pumping with a big hike or mountain bike outing all the way to the top of our lift-served terrain. Pack a picnic lunch for the trail or hit up the 6th Alley Bar & Grill when you’re done to relax and refuel.
Add in a little competition by signing up for one or all of our three trail running races, which get progressively more difficult.
Or, challenge yourself on our 20-hole, par-3 disc golf course that will have you traversing the frontside of the mountain through forests and wildflower fields. It’s not an easy course; come prepared!
You don’t want to miss taking the family to our aerial adventure park. Start the day by challenging yourselves on one of 7 courses, including 2 just for little kids! Work together to soar through the trees on this 2-hour experience. Enjoy lunch at the 6th Alley when you’re done to refuel for an exploratory afternoon.
Jump on the Black Mountain Express chairlift and fly to mid-mountain where you can relax or hike the Half Moon Trail (0.8 mi roundtrip) to one of the most scenic spots on the mountain. Or, pull out the bikes to ride up Argentine North Fork Trail to #2, our giggle-inducing downhill roller coaster built just for bikes.
Is it Saturday? Finish the afternoon dancing in the Mountain Goat Plaza to live music or enjoying a snack on the A-Frame deck.
The entire mountain is a playground for photographers. Start hiking the Argentine North Fork trail from the base area and you will quickly encounter wildflowers, wildlife, and unblemished views of the famed East Wall and Continental Divide. Join a guided wildflower hike at 11:00 a.m. on a Sunday or Monday to learn more.
Or, go straight for the unique experience of flying through the air on the Black Mountain Express chairlift. The lift drops you off at mid-mountain and from there you can enjoy three excellent hiking options for jaw-dropping scenery. Hike the Half Moon Trail to the Half Moon Vista, first, an 0.8-mile loop. Once you return to Black Mountain Lodge, take a snack break on the scenic deck.
If you have time, next hike the Upper Summer Road to the summit for panoramic mountain views and a chance to spot our resident mountain goat herd. Or, hike the steep Pali Road to the summit of our most famous chairlift for excellent views of the ski area.
