Rise and Shine Rando Series #5

Tue, Jan 7

Time: 7:00 AM - 9:00 AM
Admission: $25

Join us for a six-part series of uphill challenges on Tuesday mornings in November, December, and January. Register for all six and save, or pick and choose which morning works best for you. Starting in Mountain Goat Plaza at 10,780’ and finishing near the Summit at 12,474’, with twists and turns along the way, the early morning Rise and Shine Rando Races are a fun and challenging way to start your day!

  • Race start: 7:00 a.m. in Mountain Goat Plaza
  • Check-in begins at 6:00 a.m. in the Rental Shop

Course Description

The race will start right at the base and head up Wrangler to the lower Chisholm loop, then back to Wrangler.  The racers will then cross Sundance and dive into the trees and wiggle around on our summer bike/hiking trail. Eventually they pop out of the woods for a minute, then back into the woods behind the Black Mountain Lodge on Lynx Lane. Next they charge up to the bottom of West Wall for a powerful but short boot pack up West Wall to the Cornice Run. At the top on West Wall racers will put their skis back on and head up the Cornice to pass Patrol Head Quarters on our way to Zuma Bowl. Here you will de-skin and ski down Larkspur and Black Bear to the bottom of the Zuma chair. Here will put back on their skins and ascend Columbine to Northern Spy. Once out of the bowl, the racers scoot back across to PHQ and finish in Il Refugio.

New for 2019

Arapahoe Basin strongly recommends the use of helmets that meet either the ASTM F2040 or CEN 1077 rating.
