Activities Based on Time
Relaxing Mountain Experience
Summer ski area activities for all ages and abilities
Everyone can enjoy our spectacular views and experience Colorado's mountains. Chill out in our gorgeous setting with a casual hike or chairlift ride to mid-mountain to wander among the wildflowers. Pair that with a meal at the 6th Alley Bar & Grill at the base of the mountain. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, join a one-hour, outdoor yoga class at 10:00 a.m.
High Alpine Adventure
Get your adrenaline going
Don't miss our via ferrata, a fixed climbing route that takes you above treeline to a nearly 13,000-foot summit (pictured). Our guides will lead you on a half- or full-day adventure of a lifetime. (No public access.)
If you have less time, get your adrenaline going with a trip through our aerial adventure park. Explore 7 courses (two are just for little kids; five for the big kid in all of us) and spend a couple of hours traversing, zipping and swinging through the trees.
Get your blood pumping with a big hike or mountain bike outing all the way to 12,500 feet -- the top of our lift-served terrain. Pack a picnic lunch for the trail or hit up the 6th Alley Bar & Grill when you’re done to relax and refuel.
Or, challenge yourself on our 20-hole, par-3 disc golf course that will have you roaming all over the frontside of the mountain through forests and wildflower fields. It’s not an easy course; come prepared! Need a new disc? Pick one up in Arapahoe Sports.
Family Day
You don’t want to miss taking the family to our aerial adventure park. Start the day by zipping, traversing and swinging through the forest up to 40 feet in the air on this 2-hour experience (courses available for ages 4 and up). Enjoy lunch at the 6th Alley Bar & Grill when you’re done to refuel for an exploratory afternoon.
After lunch, jump on the Black Mountain Express chairlift and fly to mid-mountain where you can relax and enjoy the views on the deck of the Black Mountain Lodge. Hike the new Half Moon Vista trail for incredible mountain views. Take the lift back to the base area or hike from mid-mountain down the Argentine North Fork Trail and enjoy the wildflowers along the way.
Photography Outing
The entire mountain is a playground for photographers. Start hiking the Argentine North Fork trail from the base area and you will quickly encounter wildflowers, wildlife, and unblemished views of the famed East Wall and Continental Divide.
Or, go straight for the unique experience of flying through the air on the Black Mountain Express chairlift. The lift drops you off at mid-mountain and from there you can hike the new Half Moon Vista trail for jaw-dropping scenery. Or, hike the Summer Road all the way to the summit for panoramic mountain views and a chance to spot our resident mountain goat herd.

4+ HOURS
Enjoy a high-alpine climbing adventure on the A-Basin Via Ferrata
We are home to North America’s highest-elevation via ferrata (“iron way”) on the East Wall, one of A-Basin's most striking, prominent geographical features. A via ferrata is a climbing route that follows iron rungs (or handholds) that have been fixed permanently to the rock. Harnesses, ropes, and helmets are utilized but previous rock-climbing experience is not needed.
This via ferrata is a guided-only experience. Choose from a full or a half day. The full-day tour ascends 800 feet to a 13,000’ summit with stunning, 360-degree views. Or, choose a shorter adventure to an old mine shaft where you can learn more about the history of the area. Don't forget to add on dinner or a late lunch at the 6th Alley Bar & Grill when you're done (open 'till 5:00 p.m. most days, 8:00 p.m. on Thursdays).
Combine the above activities
Here are some of our favorite ways to spend a day at Arapahoe Basin:
Play in the aerial adventure park (2 hours) or a round of disc golf followed by lunch in the 6th Alley Bar and Grill. Then take a scenic lift ride to mid-mountain. Hike the Half Moon Vista Trail to enjoy the scenery and wildflowers. When finished, relax on the deck of Black Mountain Lodge overlooking the Continental Divide before riding the lift or hiking back down.
Hike or ride your bike to the summit and back via Argentine North Fork Trail and Upper Summer Road. Or, shuttle the infamous Lenawee Trail on the backside of A-Basin (outside our summer boundary). Then, refuel on the deck of the 6th Alley Bar and Grill with a cold drink and hearty lunch.
Hike to and from a 10:00 a.m. yoga class at Black Mountain Lodge (about 4 miles roundtrip, Tuesdays and Thursdays with advance reservations). Head down the mountain to hit the aerial adventure park for 2 hours of playing in the trees. Finish with a meal plus a cocktail, beer or bloody Mary in the 6th Alley Bar & Grill.
