Aspens At A-Basin

The aspens in Summit County are approaching their fall colors peak. Looking across Lake Dillon towards the Gore Range, there are bright yellow patches all across the lower portions of Buffalo Mountain. Driving to The Basin from the west, there are numerous very colorful aspen stands, mostly on the north side of the highway. Due to its high elevtion, A-Basin only has a couple of small aspens groves. One is at the very lowest elevation in Montezuma Bowl and the other (pictured here and clearly visible from Highway 6) is in the runout of the 1st Steep Gully.
