Snowshoe Tour

Mountain Top Views on Snowshoes

Snowshoeing is closed for the season. We will see you in the winter of 2023-24!

Not a skier or snowboarder but want to enjoy a winter mountain experience and play in the snow? Experience Arapahoe Basin's high-alpine terrain and enjoy stunning views of the Continental Divide with a self-guided snowshoe tour and scenic lift ride.

Our snowshoe rental package includes equipment, a chairlift ride to mid-mountain at 11,500 feet, and a self-guided hike back down to the base area where you can enjoy a delicious meal and drink at the 6th Alley Bar & Grill. Or stop in at Black Mountain Lodge at the top of the lift before you start snowshoeing to enjoy a meal on the scenic deck.

A great Colorado adventure for families! Available to ages 7 and up, with discounts for kids!

Important Info for Your Snowshoe Tour

How long does it take?

Between 1 and 1.5 hours. Please arrive 15 minutes early to park and walk to the base area where you will check in at our rental shop.

Where will I be hiking?

The course follows the eastern edge of the mountain's lower-half, frontside terrain. You will be hiking down the mountain from approximately 11,500' to 10,800'. The route takes you along the base of our famous East Wall with a 13,000-foot peak rising directly to your right and views of the Continental Divide ahead of you.

Look for the green, white, and orange snowshoe route markers to stay on course. Please be aware of your surroundings as you are sharing the mountain with skiers and snowboarders.

What does A-Basin provide?

Our package includes a lift ticket and the designated snowshoe route, plus snowshoes and hiking poles.

What do I need to bring?

Winter boots, snow pants, jacket, gloves, hat, sunglasses.

Your shoes and pants should be waterproof. We recommend sturdy winter snow boots that at least go over your ankle. (No running/gym shoes, Crocs, or open-toed footwear will be allowed.) We recommend you bring layers as our mountain weather can change quickly. Note the forecast and dress accordingly for 11,500 feet!

How do I check in?

Please check in at the rental shop at your reserved time. We have a single base area and the rental shop is in one of the main buildings.

Mountain Top Views on Snowshoes is limited to a maximum of 6 people starting the course at designated 20 minute intervals.

How do I ride a chairlift?

If you are not familiar with ski-area lifts, please watch this video. We'll slow the chair down for you as needed.
